Dear District Leader,

You may be aware that leaders from Rotary District 2232 in Ukraine recently raised concerns about the Rotary Club of Kyiv International’s use of disaster response funds. I want to assure you that we take the stewardship of Rotary’s funds extremely seriously. The Rotary Foundation has a system in place to ensure that all funds are being used appropriately and according to their original intent.

As a result of the district bringing this to our attention, we are conducting an extensive review of the Rotary Club of Kyiv International’s use of funds intended to support a humanitarian response for people affected by the war in Ukraine. Until this review is complete, the Rotary Foundation will not approve or fund grants involving the Rotary Club of Kyiv International. We also strongly suggest that clubs and districts refrain from sending funds to the Rotary Club of Kyiv International at this time. Please share this message with any club that has sent or is considering sending funds/items into Ukraine.

We will provide additional information after the review is complete. This will take us some time due to the ongoing situation in Ukraine. In the meantime, you can direct questions to stewardshipdepartment@rotary.org.

Sincerely,

John Hewko
Rotary International General Secretary
